'Hot Mess, But Blessed' creating a community of togetherness and companionship for those whose lives have been touched by the undoubtable, grief*

*this event is open to all, as those who may not have experienced grief and death personally - may know of someone who has, whether it be a friend or colleague. This event will help those individuals understand in greater depth how their friend or colleague is feeling, and gain further understanding in how to support them, and tools to help with this.

Grief can be experienced in many forms, even outside of death. However 'Hot Mess, But Blessed' is centred around grief related to death and trauma.

A Glimpse At My Story

Grief became a part of my life unexpectedly in January 2023, when my Dad died unexpectedly before me. A moment embedded in my being.

Death & trauma entered my world with no handbook, no guidance, no warning.

Just a daughter in her twenties, inhaling a deep breath with a heavy heart, preparing herself to navigate a world without the man who was the pillar of it.

The Ambition & Community

After nearly 2 years of documenting my grief journey online, it's time to introduce my virtual safe-space to the real world, creating 'Hot Mess, But Blessed: Hand In Hand'.

'Hot Mess, But Blessed: Hand In Hand' will be an in-person event, at Cabin Cwtch (of course!)

At this 90 minute event, a shared feeling of understanding and empathy will be felt and created amongst one another. Grief is an emotion that can at times, if not most of the time, feel so incredibly isolating and misunderstood, when in fact, we will all experience grief in our life time. We will all experience death. It's just a matter of when, it is the only guarantee we have in this life.

Because of this, I feel it is fundamental as a society that we discuss death and grief more openly, without hesitation or misunderstanding.

Becoming a society that adapt the correct interpersonal skills to address this area of life, will allow the sometimes loud but sometimes quiet, but always remaining, pain and heartache of death and grief a slight bit more manageable.

In a world where in-person human connection is lessening, we need to refrain from this and recall how real-life communication enhances our well-being. After all, evolution teaches us that we are very much social beings who need that sense of belongingness to enable feelings of empathy and purpose!

What To Expect At 'Hot Mess, But Blessed: Hand In Hand'

Strictly good energy only! even in the name of death and grief! If you have ever visited Cabin Cwtch previously, you will know it maintains the most warm, welcoming and comfortable environment - as said by our customers!

Bring a loved one or ride solo, we're all in this together. Grab a chair, make yourself comfortable, and enjoy a coffee or tea with some light bites. I will then head up some introductory conversation, sharing my story to ease us in (as I know it may feel slightly abnormal entering an environment like this!) and with no time, we will find ourselves in an open conversation, in larger groups and smaller groups amongst each other, sharing our experiences and understanding.

(*there will be no obligation for any one to engage in sharing their personal story. Attendees can benefit from simply listening on and feeling that sense of community, without divulging any personal details)

This will be a ticketed event, including the following:

  • A 'Hot Mess, But Blessed' tote bag, containing gifts to aid your grief
  • Bottomless tea or coffee
  • Beths Bakes cupcakes
  • Light savoury bites
  • Conversation surrounding coping mechanisms, shared experiences, how the loss of different relationships can differ, the impact of death and grief on children, the way we approach life since our loss, and so much more. As us grievers know, the depths of grief is significantly more than what others see on the surface!

Moving through grief, hand in hand.
